With the "Relay for Life" having gone off without a hitch, and having spent countless hours walking the track in honor of our teams namesake, we are all proud that we were given the chance to gather with so many people.
"Ben's Friends" Relay team gives thanks for the many Ladies who assisted in making this an exciting celebration. That combined with those Knights of columbus who walked along with us and were members of the team ... made this a moment in time that will not be forgotten.
Ben Bellerose is a friend to all of us, and we are proud to have done this not only his honor, but for ourselves and for the memory of our family and friends lost to this deadly disease.

The "Ben's Friends" Team was awarded for it's "Road to Recovery" Camp site and overall theme, for the 2009 Relay year.
In this picture at left, is the "Ben's Friends" Campsite, decorated with baloons, streamers, race car props and posters and so much more.
Many thanks, as well, to the Ladies who showed up at 10am on Friday morning, to secure the location and set up the tents and canopies. Our Ladies "hats off" to Knight of Columbus, Norman St.Hilaire who showed up at 1pm on the day of the walk, to help decorate the site with his wife, Lady Lilly St.Hilaire.
Above is a picture of the "Ben's Friends" site and "raffle table" with race car theme table cloth cover. The ladies team raised just under $200 off of the bake sale table as well as profits from a chance at winning 4 tickets to the Nascar race being held on the weekend of June 27th at New Hampshire Interntaional Speedway.
In the dark of the night, Relay participants gathered at "Center Stage", and lit candles to start off the memorial portion of the ceremony held at that time.
Participants sang, listened to speaches and walked the track with their candles lit, to a "Memorial Gallery" on the opposite side of the Quad, where a lone bag pipe player memorialized this part of the programming with a rendition of "Amazing Grace".
Relayer's rallied in the center of the Quad, at a fire pit that was lit, with benches and tables set around the area.
Participants were given the chance to honor their families and friends lost to the disease, at an open microphone.

A local performer, Brian Waldron and "Glen Ridge", performed at Center Stage at the Relay.
Brian is a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Concord, and has been very helpful in assisting the Knights of Columbus and other local groups at events in the past.
In this late night picture at left, Brian in center, is performing with two members of the band, "Glen Ridge".
Below are pictures taken at various moments throughout the relay.

The valient efforts of many of our Relay Team members are showing with donations increasing each day for Team "Ben's Friend's".
Each member comtinues to collect from family, friends, neighbors and co-worker's, etc, in an effort to remain high on the list of teams who have collected the most donation's for this years event.
#3, though ... out of 40 teams is more than quite remarkable.
Team Captain, and Lady of the Knights member, Jolene Camley, urges Relay team members to keep up the GREAT work!
During a recent planning meeting, two of our Knights Ladies worked on crafts and other important projects related to the Relay for Life.
Ladies, Lisa Breton and Kim LaFleur, along with friends Jennifer Krochmal and her mother Elaine, worked on enhansing the Teams Relay t-shirts, to better reflect the spirit of the event and the Team Relayer's.
Team "Ben's Friends", started planning for the event later in the time line, but has still managed to garner a large amount of donation's from Family, friends and co-worker's, etc.
With the "Relay" just two days away, members are finalizing the finer points, with not only the t-shirts, but the Relay Team Camp set up at New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord.
Ladies members Lisa Breton, Kim LaFleur and Jolene Camley will be setting up the site on Friday morning, getting an early start for a "prime location", along with Jennifer Krochmal, a "Ben's Friend's Relay member, who has given alot of time recently to "surprise" crafts.
The EXCITEMENT and MAGIC is nearing the countdown hour, and the Ladies of the Knights can't wait to see everyone there, along with their Relay team members.

Hello Everyone!!! How exciting the relay is only 4 days away. We wanted to get this email out to everyone for some reminders and helpful hints….
1. Tent set up will be Friday morning at 10:00am at the tech. I know most of you work so Jen, Lisa, and I volunteered to set up the tents…If someone is not working and would like to come and help that would be great!!
2. The relay on Saturday officially begins at 3:00pm. However, we will need to set up for this too… We should really try to be there around 1:00pm. This will allow enough time to set up and be prepared for Jeanne to kick us off at the starting line. GO Jeanne!! We are so proud of you!!!!
3. The relay officially ends on Sunday at 9:00am. Please be prepared for pickup time and anything else that might need to be done.
4. Bake Sale!!! We are holding a bake sale during the relay to try and raise more money to fight this terrible life changing disease. It is VERY important that everyone bring some items for our bake sale. There will be Hungary walkers that will want to have some yummy treats!! Let’s assist with their cravingsJ Some items talked about at the meeting were, rice crispy treats, breads, cookies, brownies, home made chex mix, baked caramel popcorn. So please bring whatever it is that fits your fancy….
5. Also, there will be “themed laps”. This will be lots of FUN! The themes are: Pirates, Pink/Purple, Sports Teams, Crazy Hats, Mardi Gras, Western, Mexican, and Toga. We have checked out local dollar stores and they have quite a bit of inexpensive items for these laps. Let’s Show our TEAM SPIRITJ
6. RELAY IDOL!! Yup that’s right, we will be singing! Remember it’s for the cause!! (that’s what I keep telling myself, cause I can’t sing) We need to come up with a team song to sing. Some suggestions that have been tossed around – Celebration, We are Family, Everyday is a Winding Road, maybe Amazing Grace with no music?? So we need some ideas or thoughts on these suggestions!!!
7. Penny Competition. Bring your pennies and also silver coins. This particular game will be held on Saturday evening.
8. At the meeting it was suggested that we also hold a “Chinese Auction”. So if everyone could bring a raffle item to donate that would be great.
9. Last but not least: a list of some helpful items you might want to bring. Cooler, food, snacks, rain gear, umbrella, water, pennies and other loose change, your baked goods, raffle items, grill items (grill will be on site), lanterns or flashlights, sunglasses, change of clothes, pillow, blanket or sleeping bags, chairs, all your themed lap items, and anything else you can think of. Most importantly bring your TEAM SPIRIT!!!!!
I would like to take this opportunity to Thank Jolene for inviting me to do this special walk. This is such a worthy cause. Jolene you have done a terrific job organizing and keeping the spirit of the team going!!! Job Well Done!! Jen, thanks so much for all the time and effort you have put in to help with all the projects. It is very much appreciated!! I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday afternoon….
Remember, we are Celebrating Life. Let’s take this relay to a whole new level!! God Bless All of You, Kim
Hello Ben's Friends Team Members,
The Relay is almost here and as of this morning we are in 2nd place out of 39 Teams with money collected. Awesome job everyone, keep those donations coming in! I thought it would be a good idea to have a team meeting on Friday, June 12th at 7:00 pm at our home: 287 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen, NH 03303 to go over all the information for the upcoming event. Everyone knows our theme is Road to Recovery and there is so much to do to display our signs and make things. I hope you can make the meeting, if not, it's ok I will send you an email with the information. Please let me know if you will be attending or if you need directions. I will be serving beverages (alcoholic and non) along with snacks!
Thanks!
Jolene
"Ben's Friends", thanks to your pressing for support, has moved into the #2 spot for donations. That's out of 39 teams listed for the walk! Keep up the GREAT work! Keep up the cause! Keep the dream alive. Keep asking for the support of your family, friends and neighbors. We'll see you at the walk!
Thanks,
Jolene
Hello Teammates!
I hope everyone is doing well and gearing up for the upcoming Relay for Life event we're all participating in this coming June 20th to the 21st.
This past Monday, I attended another Team Captain Meeting and was informed we cannot use Hands of Hope theme because it's not an already established program or such through the American Cancer Society (ACS). I looked at their list and think I made a good choice. Ben's Friends theme is Road to Recovery. This is a program within the ACS where people volunteer their time and cars and provide free transportation to cancer patients and their caregivers to their treatments. Their is alot we can do poster and decoration wise. I was thinking we could get a few large boxes and build our own huge car that everyone can walk in together around the track 1 or 2 times just to show we're all in it together! Concord was chosen to have lots of publicity this year so be prepared for tv and newspapers to make an appearance.
Also, this year their having a Penny Wars between all the team. Please save and bring as many of your pennies from your home or families to the relay. I will explain all the details soon.
Another fun event will be Relay Jeopardy and we need 3 team members to play. All of the answers and questions will come from the ACS website. Please let me know if you'd like to participate.
Another new fun event will be Relay Idol! You can sing alone or with a group. Let's think of an awesome song that coordinates with our theme that we can all sing together.
Also, they will be having movie trivia for the three movies they will be showing throughout the entire event.
I will be bringing a tent, a canopy, one of the council's large coolers, and 1 case of water. Does anyone have a small grill we could use? Let me know what you will be bringing.
We need to have a team meeting to go over all the details and prepare ourselves. What date is good for all of you? Please email me asap with your date in mind. I'm available during the week if that would help. I need to have all your money collected, for any offline donations, by June 16th. I have to turn in the money on June 17th where I will also be getting everyone's tee-shirts. Please, please try to get more donations. You need to have collected $100.00 for the free tee-shirt. Let's all show our support for Ben and the American Cancer Society.
Any questions or concerns, please contact me at (603)674-5257 or jlcc417 at aol dot com
Thanks,
Jolene
After some quick moving and pressing for donations ... we're back at #4.
Keep up the GREAT work!
Hello Ben's Friends Team Members,
Time sure is flying by til we all start walking together on June 20th. I'm so looking forward to this event and showing our support for Ben and to fight Cancer.
I just wanted to thank each of you for your hard work in collecting donations. We've now collected over $900.00, but we still have work to do.
I have raised our team goal to $1,400.00 and individually $100.00 each. We now officially have 14 team members; which is outstanding!
I've ordered a tee-shirt for everyone that walks, but you need to collect $100.00.
We really need to start thinking about Team Fundraising for our Hands of Hope theme.
If you have any ideas, please feel free to email me at Jlcc417@aol.com or give me a call at (603) 674-5257.
Thanks! Jolene
By the way,
we are now #3 in fundraising out of 33 teams.
GREAT JOB!
Hello Ben Friends,
Just wanted to let everyone that right now with the money we've collected so far, we're now listed on the Relay for Life website as Team #4 for Ben's Friends. Awesome job everyone and keep up the good work! We also need to start thinking about team fundraising to help everyone on the team raise atleast $100.00. Tee-shirts are free if you bring in $100.00.
Uno's offers a night where people can go in and mention Relay for Life or Ben's Friends and we would get 20% of everyone's bill that mentions us. Is this something you'd all like me to schedule? Easy Money. I also thought maybe a bake sale at the churches. Those always seem to bring in money; afterall who doesn't like baked goods! Let me know your thoughts......Our team Theme is leaning towards Hands of Hope. I thought it would be awesome if sell cut out handshapes and have them on a banner around our campsite at the Relay. What do you think? Or we could also do handshaped cookies for a bake sale......See I do alot of thinking. Please let me know if any ideas or suggestions you may have.
Jolene

Ladies and Knights are "Ben's Friends"
The "Ladies of the Knights" Group has exciting news.
Jolene has added our team to the Relay for Life web site. Our team name is: "Ben's Friends"
Go to the following web site www.relayforlife.org/concordnh . You will see the article on Ben Bellerose , who is an active Knight within Knights of Columbus Council #112, and who is the Honorary Chair for this years Relay for Life. Our team can have 8 to 15 members and we hope to have everyone collect $100.00 in donations (more would greatly be appreciated). Ask your friends, family, co-workers, and Knights for a donation for your walk in this event! This would be a nice event to have both husband and wives involved together. I will provide further details to everyone as soon as possible. We will have a tent, grill, and activities to keep us busy throughout the day and night. The event is scheduled for June 20 to 21 from 3 pm to 9am. Please feel free to forward this to anyone within the Council or the Ladies Group that I might of forgotten to email.
The Ladies of the Knights agreed to use our basket money from March and April at the March meeting toward the registration fee for everyone. Make sure you complete your registration and then you will have your own personal page. After that please email your friends and family your page link with the idea that they can make a donation directly online. We will also have donation papers that can be filled out for those that do not have email.
If you have any questions or concerns, please free to contact me at (603) 674-5257 regarding this event. I am the Team Captain and will be attending all of teh Captain's Meetings. I will be providing a follow-up email to those interested and TEAM members.
