Ladies of the Knights

of Concord Council #112

12 November 2009

Hello Ladies,

Please find below, a recap of our meeting, held on 11/16/2009.

*December 5th we will be hosting the Ladies from the state level and helping to make no-sew baby blankets that will be given out to the Birth Right Support Agencies at the Annual State Birth Right Dinner hosted by Concord Council #112. Please bring 1 yard of fleece baby fabric with a pattern and 1 yard of solid fleece that will coordinate with your pattern. We will meet at 10 am until approximately 2 pm. (Just depends on how fast the blankets are finished). Lunch will be provided. We also voted at our meeting to spend $100.00 of our money and donate the fleece material for additional blankets. I will send out another email as soon as I have the location set...it's either going to the be the Council home or IHM.

**Our Christmas Party will be at 5:30 pm on Sunday, December 6th at Lilly St. Hilaire's home located at: 20 South Street in Concord, NH. Please bring a dish to share with everyone. We will be having our Yankee Swap, please bring a $10.00 gift.

***We have several boxes of crayons left over from the school supply drive that had not been donated. We decide to purchase coloring books from the dollar store and donate the crayons and books to toys for tots.

****This year for the Christmas Season we voted to help the patients at the Veteran's Home in Tilton, NH. We will be purchasing any needed items and donating them for the season. They have a total of 200 patients and some never get any visitors. I will be calling to see what they are in need of, but we came up with all occasion cards, postage stamps, socks. We will pick a date and shop together or in small groups and then deliver the items to Tilton. It was talked about, that we would spend anywhere from $200.00 to $500.00, depending on the homes needs.

*****January Meeting will be dinner at Ichiban Japanese Steak House at 118 Manchester Street in Concord. The Ladies group will pay $10.00 per person towards your meal and the rest will be up to us individually.

*****It was decided that we wanted to go back to Harris Hill Nursing Home in Concord and it came out that February would be a good time to go with a Valentine's Day theme. Would any one be interested in organizing this with the home? Let me know.

******At this months social on Monday, 11/23/09 we will be doing a 50/50 raffle rather than raffling off a basket. With the upcoming Holiday Season it would be nice to send someone home with money.

*******It was also mentioned we need to think of fundraising ideas. It was thought maybe we could do a bake sale one time a month and rotate around the 4 Concord Catholic Churches. Would anyone be willing to step up to the plate and chair this?

Hope to see everyone on December 6th at our Christmas Party. This will be another year of fun for us all to gather and enjoy each other's company.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

7 October 2009

Hello Ladies,

The Harvest Craft fair is almost here, this Saturday, October 17th at St. John's Church Parish Center on Main Street. We will be setting up the hall at 10:00 pm on Friday night, October 16th. The more people to help with this, the quicker it will go. The doors will open at 6:30 am for the Craft Vendors on Saturday morning. I know that Lisa, Debbie, and I will all be there to help the morning get started.

Don't forget our Silent Auction and if you'd like to donate an item, please feel free to do so. Bring the item on Friday night or Saturday. The vendors will also be donating an item to this. The Italian Basket will be a separate raffle, please feel free to bring any other additional Italian items to make this basket completely filled. If you want to bring additional items, great, but please do not feel you have to.

We are in dire need of bake sale items! Please bake and bring them Friday night or Saturday morning. Cookies, cakes, pies, muffins, etc. Everybody likes baked goods and this was our biggest money maker last year. Please ask your friends if they'd like to bake something for our worthy cause.

This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and the money we bring in helps us do all of our good deeds for our community. Let's show our community who we are and what we're about. Lisa has done a wonderful job organizing this years Harvest Craft Fair and lets all jump in to help make this a successful year. Once the craft fair is over we can all relax and get back to our socializing and fun.

See you soon!

God Bless,

Jolene

9 July 2009

Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and are fortunate enough to travel somewhere without rain!

I'm looking forward to this upcoming year and getting together with everyone for our meetings. I have a few ideas that I'd like to run by everyone and a few ideas that have been brought to my attention by other members. I emailed Knights of Columbus, Council #112 Grand Knight, David Dale, and I'm waiting to hear back about setting up a meeting between the two of us. I'd like to discuss some ideas and opportunities to get the men and ladies working together toward the same goals and fun.

*** There will not be a meeting in July. The tour with the meet and greet at Carenet will be scheduled hopefully sometime in the near future. So enjoy your summer and we'll all get back together on August 17th.

*** An idea was brought up to me about Council #112's Family Day on Sunday, August 23rd at 11:00 am at Elm Brook Park. The idea was brought up, by one of our members, to get some games organized to get more people involved and have fun. The thought process would include spending some of our funds on balloons, eggs, and any other games that can be thought up. I'd like for everyone to vote on this and let me know as soon as possible. Would anyone object to spending $25.00 to $30.00 from our fund on this? Does anyone else have any other ideas to help the Family Day attendance increase?

*** The other idea is to have Pine Haven Boys Center paint the wooden signs for our Craft Fair in October. It was thought to host a pizza party for the boys with ice cream sundae's the day they are painting the signs. We would be their working with the boys and having a fun day. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can pay them or donate to them? Any and all suggestions would greatly be appreciated. If everyone is in agreement then we will decide on a date for this to happen.

*** Our August meeting will mainly be dedicated to the planning and organizing of the upcoming Craft Fair in August. Since their will still be time at the meeting I was thinking we could make Christmas cards for the Servicemen in Iraq and Afghanistan. I can come up with some different cards and pre-cut the paper to make things easier. I will provide all the necessary supplies, but if anyone has any stamping ink pads or stamps, please feel to bring them. I know August seems extremely early for these cards, but its really the only time we have.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for this upcoming year, please don't hesitate to let me know.

God Bless,

Jolene
